Daydreaming about Shanghai
As I'm working extremely hard on my essay about China's Emergence: the role of cultural management through guanxi and mianzi for improving business relations, I started thinking about my future. I want to go back to Shanghai. So I started looking for real estate, and I fell in love with this little flat in the old French Concession area.
Now I have a goal, in a few years time it will be back to China for me. (Of course there might come obstacles in between like "travel the world etc" but ultimately...) I will spend my twenties in Shanghai, do a proper career, get a proper pay, have my first flat and live like "Da cheng xiao shi"-Wang Faye-style. I think I would love it, discover the China that is not all about tearing down and rebuilding and modernization and development. But rather the old, the beautiful and the perhaps the new emerging individualism.. I believe that must exist somewhere. If not, maybe we are the new generation to create it!
(So Jen, be ready for China, we are going to hit it there haha and Em don't worry, you are still allowed to return to Sweden when 27 and need to get married and have kids :P)

Located just 5 minutes walk from Huaihai Road, this cute apartment features one bedroom and one bathroom in bright and playful oranges and greens. The kitchen and bathroom are well-renovated with all necessary appliances.

:O i am in utter shock, you CANNOT leave me!!! and dragging jen with you as well, this is outrageous! not only that, but you insert 'travelling the world etc.' into brackets. my dear, travelling the world together is not a parentheses period of time or event, it is a capital letter couple of words that matter immensely. so much even, that they it is going to change your mind about moving to china. remember, that as we are married you have an obligation as my wife, which i will stress at this moment! anais nin's mindset will not be in favour i might add.
i suppose what i am trying to say is that i will be very upset to see you leave, because as much as it does tempt me, i'm not entirely sure that a move to china for my part would be the best bet. although, considering you may leave i might just have to consider it as an option.
looooove!
p.s. i got my roskilde ticket!!! yeeeha!
haha, major reaction upstairs! but i can so recognise this as one of ur excitement 'xinxian' periods and when u really think it through, not so sure ur really going to go along with it. i really want to end up in china as well...tho shanghai wouldnt perhaps be the ideal city for me, but its a bit of a creative void over there u have to admit. really dont know that going to happen after graduation, will have to ponder over these thoughts a bit more. although i can totally picture the 'dachengxiaoshi' apartment and us living together. hehe, with em as well of course.
